What is a DTF Transfer Sheet?

What is a DTF Transfer Sheet?

In the past 3-5 years, the digital textile printing industry has witnessed rapid
growth due to the development of digital printers which allow the printing of
digital images onto a variety of textiles and products. Specifically, a Direct To
Film (DTF) printer results in the transfer of a digital image to a specialized film
which is then transferred to a fabric or object via a heat press. This specialized
film can be in the form of cut sheets (used for small scale use) or rolls (typically
used in larger, commercial operations). In either case, the result is termed a DTF
Transfer Sheet with digital image(s) printed on it. This specialized film is a
polyester film, often referred to as PET film. It is a crystal clear thermoplastic film
that has flexible strength and good retention of physical properties over a wide
temperature range.

The DTF printing process allows the use of a variety of fabric types from 100%
cotton, cotton blends, polyesters, silk, or synthetic fibers. The process also allows
the use of a wide variety of colors. After the heat pressing process, the DTF
transfer sheets can be peeled away safely immediately (hot peel) or later after
cooling (cold peel).
